If you told younger me that crew socks would be trendy one day, I wouldn't have believed you. They used to be considered a fashion faux pas worn only by dads in cargo shorts and New Balances, but now, they're all over the magazines and runways.
As always, Gen Z has found a way to revive an "outdated" style and make it their own, like blue eyeshadow or trucker hats.
As a shopping editor, I can confidently say that ankle socks are out and crew socks are in! And I must admit, I'm actually on board with this trend.
The best crew socks are cute, comfy, and come in lots of colors and textures.
While traditional crew socks totally fit the bill, you don't have to limit yourself to basic colors like white, black, or gray. In fact, color is welcome, whether you opt for a muted mauve or a retro-inspired striped pattern.
Similarly, choosing a waffle knit or ribbed cashmere pair is an easy way to elevate any look by adding some texture (just ask the fashion girlies).
Lastly, don't be afraid to embrace slouchy styles à la 80s aerobics instructor—just trust us.
And according to Gen Z, you can wear them with (almost) any pair of shoes. Think Birkenstock clogs for a day of running errands, a pair of classic white sneakers with a mini dress for lunch, and even loafers and trousers for work.
However you style them, crew socks are a trend that anyone can rock without breaking the bank. If you want in on the latest Gen Z trend, our fashion experts have put together a list of the most stylish crew socks around. Shop the look below.
